give a year Partnership: Mount Holyoke College - Master of Arts in Teaching

Mount Holyoke MAT

City Year is proud to partner with Mount Holyoke College's Master of Arts in Teaching program, offering 50% off tuition for aspiring middle and secondary school teachers.

Mount Holyoke’s flexible, 11-month M.A.T. includes an innovative curriculum, personalized advising, initial teacher licensure in 19 subject areas, and a unique collaboration with Expeditionary Learning (EL). Mount Holyoke’s M.A.T. is the only graduate program in the country created and developed in collaboration with EL, a non-profit educational organization that is transforming schools across the country.

Students enrolled in the M.A.T. program will be supported by EL mentors to make a significant impact on their learning communities. Beverley Bell, Director of MAT Program, describes the program as an opportunity for aspiring teachers to "work in schools with a bold approach to school design and education reform.”

Mount Holyoke College has a 175-year history of preparing excellent teachers. Student teachers are placed in public, charter, and independent schools and are consistently rated as "excellent” and "outstanding” by their supervising teachers. Students who complete the teacher licensure program have a 100% pass rate on the Massachusetts Test for Education Licensure (MTEL).
