City Year is proud to partner with Mount Holyoke College's Master of Arts in Teaching program, offering two 50% tuition scholarships for aspiring middle and secondary school teachers.


Background

Mount Holyoke College has a 175-year history of preparing excellent teachers. Student teachers are placed in public, charter, and independent schools and are consistently rated as "excellent” and "outstanding” by their supervising teachers. The flexible, 11-month MAT program includes an innovative curriculum, personalized advising, initial teacher licensure in 19 subject areas, and a unique collaboration with Expeditionary Learning.

* There is no application fee at Mount Holyoke College.

Eligibility & Additional Info
 

  • 50% Tuition Scholarship. The award will be equal to 50% of tuition for up to two (2) recipients. 

  • Scholarships awarded to City Year corps members and alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.

  • Space permitting, Mount Holyoke College will allow deferrals up to one year if accepted applicants decide to serve additional time with City Year.

To Identify & Verify Your City Year Affiliation

  • To be considered for the Mount Holyoke College Master of Arts in Teaching give a year Scholarship, please contact the Professional and Graduate Education Office at mat@mtholyoke.edu or 413-538-3478 and reference our partnership.
  • City Year verification: To get the application fee waived and to be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with "Mount Holyoke College: service verification letter" in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your corps graduation month and year. This letter will be electronically sent to the Admissions Office and added to applicant file
