The University of Chicago Urban
Teacher Education Program prepares teachers of the highest caliber for
Chicago Public Schools while empirically testing a model for urban teacher
preparation. Our graduates engage in teaching as a highly intellectual career
and are classroom-based instructional leaders and agents for educational equity
in their schools and community. UChicago
UTEP is a two-year graduate program accredited by the Illinois State Board of
Education that awards a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree. Alumni then
receive up to three years of post-graduation supports, making Chicago UTEP a
unique five-year experience.

To get the application fee waived and be considered for the give a year scholarship, please
contact the Admissions Office (see contact info below).

A verification
letter must be submitted to be considered for the scholarship. Please send
an email to Nan Shearer, City Year Alumni & Career Services Manager, at giveayear@cityyear.org with "UChicago UTEP: City Year verification letter
request” in the subject line and include the site where you served and dates of
service in the email. This letter will be sent to University of Chicago UTEP’s Admissions
Office and added to applicant file.
