City Year is proud to partner with the New Teachers Collaborative so our alumni can continue to lead on transformational change on pressing social problems. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for the New Teacher Collaborative.

 

Background


New Teachers Collaborative is a post-baccalaureate teacher licensure program in Massachusetts that provides a rich opportunity for aspiring teachers to learn to teach by teaching in small, progressive middle and high schools that foster deep understanding.


The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at New Teachers Collaborative and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a teacher intern.

Benefits offered by the New Teqachers Collaborative:

  • Initial License in specific content area from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Schools
  • 15 credits from Fitchburg State University towards Masters degree.
  • Partnership with an outstanding master teacher mentor
  • Ongoing professional development activities, graduate level courses, and networking opportunities for first three years of teaching
