Returning AmeriCorps Member Opportunities

As a City Year alum or currently serving corps member, you understand how challenging and rewarding a year of service can be. Many of you have helped students get back on track to graduate by improving their course performance, attendance and behavior. You have tutored, mentored, monitored attendance, supported positive behavior, lead after-school programs and organized activities that improved the overall school environment. As young leaders between the ages of 18 and 25, corps members are uniquely able to help students and schools succeed.

Please consider applying to serve another year with City Year. The opportunity to serve another year is an incredible step towards your professional future and possibly a career at City Year. There are several opportunities available for you to build on your experience and continue making a positive impact in students’ lives. The majority of our sites are open to apply to, but a few sites are specifically looking for alumni to fill their Returning AmeriCorps member slots: Detroit, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Sacramento, San Jose and Tulsa.

Team Leader

Team Leaders are school based senior corps members who lead a team of 10-15 AmeriCorps members in their first year of service. In this role, you’ll manage team initiatives, school related projects and community engagement activities. You’ll also support your team’s impact manager in maintaining positive relationships at the school level and delivering impactful service.


Second-Year Corps Member

Second-year corps members continue their service in the classroom with students every day. Building upon their impact and experience from their first year, second year corps members are uniquely positioned to continue to support all students and ensure they have the academic and social-emotional skills to achieve their goals.


Service Leader

Service leaders are senior AmeriCorps members who lead a team of AmeriCorps members in their first year of service while also continuing to serve students in the classroom. Service leader positions are only available at a limited amount of City Year sites.


Care Force

Care Force is a physical service senior AmeriCorps member opportunity. Members of Care Force civically engage community and corporate volunteers to participate in transformational service with City Year at the national level.


Civic Engagement

Civic engagement positions are physical service senior AmeriCorps member positions available at limited City Year sites. In this position, you’ll civically engage community and corporate volunteers to participate in transformational service with City Year at the local level.
