University Partnership: Baylor University - Garland School of Social Work

City Year is proud to partner with the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University, a private Christian university and a nationally ranked research institution, offering 50% annual tuition remission to eligible City Year AmeriCorps members, alumni and staff.

Background

The Garland School of Social Work (GSSW) prepares graduates to serve in a wide range of public and private settings, from schools and hospitals to prisons and foundations, with a diverse group of human service organizations in between. One of the competencies Baylor social workers develop is the ethical integration of faith and social work practice. This means preparing students to serve in congregations, religiously-affiliated and other faith-based organizations. With campuses in both Waco and Houston, Texas, students have an opportunity for diverse field education experiences. Virtual options are available for all students during their concentration year and those with a BSW can earn their MSW in as little as 10 months. In partnership with the Truett Theological Seminary and the Hankamer School of Business, students can also pursue a joint degree in Waco.
