The Capital Teaching Residency is a nationally recognized, highly selective teacher training program that provides a pathway for aspiring teachers to develop into outstanding educators prepared to serve in high-need schools in Washington, D.C.
The mission of the Capital Teaching Residency (CTR) is to close the achievement gap by increasing the number of highly effective educators in the District of Columbia. CTR serves as an effective model for teacher training programs across the country. The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at the Capital Teaching Residency and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a Capital Teaching Resident.
