Career Partnership with Make Your Mark Denver

 

City Year is proud to partner with Make Your Mark Denver so our alumni can continue to lead on transformational change on pressing social problems. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for lead teacher or teacher residency positions by one of Make Your Mark's many hiring partners in the Denver area. 


Background


The Make Your Mark Denver Campaign is a collaboration between the Denver Mayor’s Office, Denver Public Schools, and several Denver-based charter schools to accelerate efforts arounds the recruitment and retention of educators of color. No prior teaching experience or a teaching license is required. City Year graduates can enroll in one of several alternative routes to teacher certification while teaching in our schools. In many cases, the hiring organization will pay for its teacher residents to earn your teaching license.  

 

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success as a candidate of Make Your Mark and serving a year with City Year strengthens an individual’s application and chances for being selected as a resident teacher at one of our partner schools in Denver.   • Start dates for Make Your Mark's hiring partners follow the school calendars. Most partners accept applicants through June for a July start and new positions open up again in September for the following school year. 
  • Your first step to be matched with teaching opportunities is to complete the connect form linked above. When completing the form, please utilize the drop down menu in the “how did you learn about us” section to identify your City Year affiliation.
