Career Partnership with New York City Teaching Fellows
Share |

City Year is proud to partner with the NYC Teaching Fellows so our alumni can continue to lead on transformational change on pressing social problems. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for the NYC Teaching Fellows.

Background

NYC Teaching Fellows prepares a critical mass of exceptional teachers committed to a better future for the NYC students that need them most. Fellows are certified in the highest-need subject areas like math, science, special education, English as a new language, bilingual education, and English language arts and go on to teach in low-income communities or areas that struggle to attract and retain talented teachers knowledgeable in their content area such as the Bronx.  Most Teaching Fellows are certified at the secondary grade level and through the program Fellows receive a master’s degree subsidized by the NYC Department of Education.

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at NYC Teaching Fellows and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a Teaching Fellow.
