City Year is proud to partner with the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University
, a graduate school with a one-of-a-kind integration of education, communication, health, and the arts at the heart of a movement: education for social change, offering up to five $12,500 annual scholarships to eligible City Year AmeriCorps members, alumni and staff.

The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, one of the largest graduate schools at New York University, offers a diverse range of programs in applied psychology, art, education, health, media, and music.

Eligibility & Additional Info

 

  • $12,500 Tuition Scholarship for full-time master’s and advanced certificate candidates. The scholarship award will be $12,500 annually, for up to five (5) recipients entering each fall semester.

  • The scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years provided recipients maintain continuous registration and remain in good academic standing, according to NYU Steinhardt standards. Candidates must also have a valid FAFSA on file and be deemed eligible for federal aid.

  • Scholarships awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.

  • NYU Steinhardt will consider but cannot guarantee deferrals up to one year if accepted applicants decide to serve additional time with City Year.

  • Scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit-based aid based on the academic strength of the application.

  • To obtain an application fee waiver, candidates must select they are a City Year alum when prompted in the online application.
  • Candidates should also list their City Year engagement on their resume which is part of their application materials.
  • Scholarship consideration requires the submission of an application available on our Financial Aid Page

  • To Access the Application Fee Waiver and Apply for the Scholarship:
  1. Request City Year service verification: Please email the City Year Alumni & Career Services Department at alumni@cityyear.org with "NYU Steinhardt: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line and include the site where you served and dates of service in the email. This letter will be sent directly back to you so that you can include it as a part of your application.

  2. To obtain an application fee waiver, candidates must select they are a City Year alum when prompted in the online application. Scholarship consideration requires the submission of a FAFSA and a specific scholarship application available on our Financial Aid Page.
