* 25% Tuition Scholarship for three specific SNHS programs: Direct Entry (DE) Nursing, Doctorate in Physical Therapy(DPT) and Nutrition(MS only).

Awards to two (2) newly accepted Direct Entry (DE) students each year: 25% of tuition for the duration of the DPT program (academic semesters not summer). Application fee waivers cannot be offered by Simmons since SNHS subscribes to PTCAS, a vendor which does not grant application fee waivers on behalf of colleges. Students should contact PTCAS directly about their application fee waiver process. Accepted students may defer their enrollment for one academic year but the scholarship does not automatically carry forward to the future term of enrollment. Students will be re-considered. The new award amount may be different than the original award depending upon the competitiveness of the new applicant pool. Awards are canceled if a student withdraws, takes a Leave of Absence or is academically dismissed from the program.

 

Awards to two (2) newly accepted DPT students each year: 25% of tuition for the duration of the DPT program (academic semesters not summer). Award to one (1) newly accepted student to the MS in Nutrition program (no other nutrition program option or combination of nutrition programs) each year: 25% of tuition for the first two semesters of full time enrollment (academic semesters not summer). Application fee waivers will be provided. Accepted students may defer their enrollment for one academic year but the scholarship does not automatically carry forward to the future term of enrollment. Students will be re-considered. The new award amount may be different than the original award depending upon the competitiveness of the new applicant pool. Awards are canceled if a student withdraws, takes a Leave of Absence or is academically dismissed from the program.

 


Eligibility & Additional Info

  • Award by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences for two students accepted to the Direct Entry (DE) nursing program who have at least a 3.5 accumulative GPA and 3.5 GPA in science prerequisites (only two prerequisites can be outstanding at the time of application). The award will be equal to at least a 25% tuition discount for the first 3 semesters of the program; full-time enrollment is required. The DE program begins in September and the scholarship applies to a full-time DE student for academic semesters(September to May) only.

  • Award by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences to two students accepted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy(DPT) program who have at least a 3.5 accumulative GPA and 3.5 GPA in science prerequisites (only two prerequisites can be outstanding at the time of application). The award will be equal to at least a 25% tuition discount for the duration of the program; full-time enrollment is required. The DPT program begins in June and the scholarship applies to a full-time DPT student for academic semesters(September to May) only.

  • Award by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences for one student accepted to the MS in Nutrition and Health Promotion program who have at least a 3.5 accumulative GPA and 3.5 GPA in science prerequisites (all prerequisites must have been completed at the time of application). The award will be equal to at least a 25% tuition discount for the first two semesters of the program; full-time enrollment is required. The MS in Nutrition program begins in January or September but the scholarship applies to full time enrollment beginning in the September
    semester and is awarded for the academic year (September to May) only.


  • Admitted Students will be permitted to defer enrollment by one year if they decide to remain with City Year for an additional time before commencing their graduate studies. If a student defers, the give a year scholarship is not automatically carried forward to the actual year of enrollment. However, the student will be eligible for full consideration for the new term he or she defers to. The new amount may be different than the original award depending upon the competitiveness of the new applicant pool.

 

To Apply

  • To identify your City Year affiliation:  Please call or email the admissions office (info below) to identify yourself as a City Year applicant in order to obtain the application fee waiver code.. Please also self-identify on your resume and/or essay. 

  • City Year verification: To get the application fee waived and to be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with "Simmons SNHS" in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your corps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to Admissions Office and added to your applicant file.
