City Year is proud to partner with Temple Teacher Residency (TTR) so our alumni can continue to lead on transformational change on pressing social problems. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for Temple Teacher Residency.

Background

Temple Teacher Residency is a teacher preparation program for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) professionals and recent graduates who want to teach math and science in Philadelphia’s high need schools (grades 4-8). For a full school year, program participants (Residents) will learn while apprenticing with experienced teachers in Philadelphia middle grades classrooms. At the same time, they will take coursework at Temple University’s College of Education to earn both a Master’s Degree as well as Pennsylvania teacher certification.

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at Temple Teacher Residency and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a Resident Teacher.   Click Here to learn more about the Temple Teacher Residency experience.
