What is cyMentor?
cyMentor is a mentorship program that combines online tools with face-to-face mentoring to forge strong relationships that help students to stay on track to high school graduation prepared for post-secondary success. Created in partnership between City Year and iMentor, a national nonprofit organization, cyMentor is currently operating at the Mastery Charter School’s Shoemaker Campus in Philadelphia for students in the 10th-12th grades.

How cyMentor works:

  • Online mentoring pilot at the Mastery Charter School – Shoemaker Campus
  • Unique combination of weekly email correspondence and monthly group events
  • 10th grade students are matched with supportive adults to help them achieve their goals through high school graduation
  • Mentors include City Year alums, corporate partners,  interested community members and graduate students from local universities.
  • Research-based curriculum focused on students' personal, career and academic development

*Note:  cyMentor is a pilot initiative run by City Year Greater Philadelphia and Mastery Charter School's Shoemaker Campus.  Prospective mentors interested in applying must live in or near Philadelphia and be able to make a 3-year commitment to support their mentee through 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
