City Year Alumni has created this Privacy Policy to explain why we collect particular information and how we will protect your personal privacy within our Web site. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the Web site located at the URL alumni.cityyear.org.

What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information:
Our registration forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. For initial authentification, we request the last name and last four digits of the user's social security number, but we do not store users' social security number or other sensitive information, such as credit card information, within our site. Your personal information (i.e. email, phone number, etc) is shared publicly on this site only if you have elected to publish that information and, if published, that information is only accessible by other registered users of this site. Information collected through this site is not shared with other users or other organizations (not under contract for research purposes) without the user's permission. City Year reserves the right to share information collected through this site with third party affiliated organizations who are under contract to provide services, and as part of the contract, enter into a strict confidentiality agreement.
Internet Protocol Address:
We collect an IP address from all visitors to our Site. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our Site, analyze trends, track users' movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Use of "Cookies":
Our Site may use cookies to enhance your experience while using our Site. Tell-A-Friend:
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our Site, we ask them for the friend's name and e-mail address. City Year Alumni will automatically send the friend a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the Site. City Year Alumni stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail.
Misuse of Information by City Year Alumni Users
The purpose of the Alumni Directory is for registered users of the alumni online community to stay connected to other members of the alumni online community for purposes of maintaining friendships, reconnecting to old friends, or connecting to alumni for professional development or volunteer engagement reasons. Alumni contact information (i.e. email address) should not be used to promote commercial products or services, send indecent or offensive messages, or other communication that could be classified as spam. If alumni are found to be misusing information, they may lose directory privileges and/or access to other password protected areas of the website.
