The Boston Civic Engagement Team is partnering with Boston Public Schools to help prepare the Hyde Park Education Complex to be the new home of the New Mission High School and Boston Community Leadership Academy starting this fall. Though currently vacant, the building at 655 Metropolitan Ave in Hyde Park has a long and storied history in this city. Originally opened in 1928 as Hyde Park High School, the school remained a beacon in the community until 2005 when it was reformatted into 3 schools as the Hyde Park Education Complex.  At the end of the 2010-2011 school year, those schools were closed or relocated leaving the building empty for the first time in 82 years.

Boston Public Schools has asked to partner with City Year to repaint the entire complex and ensure that the two schools are moving into a building that is fresh, full of life, and one that they can proudly call their own, allowing them to increase their enrollment to meet growing demand.

The projects include painting the hallways, classrooms and science labs and will be spread out over three days:

March 24, April 7 and June 2, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Boston Civic Engagement Team has the capacity to host up to 20 volunteers on each day. Alumni are welcome to join for a day of service on any of the dates. Please contact Mollie Puskar, Boston Civic Engagement Manager, to sign up or with any questions: 617-927-2516 or
