Boston Teacher Residency

City Year is proud to partner with the Boston Teacher Residency so our alumni can continue to make a difference in classrooms and in the lives of students. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for the Boston Teacher Residency.

A quality public education for every child should be a basic promise of our democracy.

That promise starts with great teachers.

Boston Teacher Residency (BTR) recruits talented college graduates, career changers and community members of all ages and gives them the tools to make an immediate impact in the classrooms of the Boston Public Schools (BPS). Combining a yearlong classroom apprenticeship with targeted master’s-level coursework, the program offers much more than just an affordable route into teaching. BTR provides every Teacher Resident with the practical learning, hands-on experience and ongoing support essential to any successful career in teaching.

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success as a Boston Teacher Resident and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a Boston Teacher Resident.
