Eligibility and Additional Information

  • 33% annual Tuition Scholarship (can be applied to master degree programs only). The scholarship award for Syracuse University School of Education graduate program participants will be equal to 33% tuition for all admitted City Year corps members, alumni and staff members per year.  
  • Scholarships applicable to graduate master degree programs and renewable for two years.
  • Scholarships awarded to City Year alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.
  • A one-year deferral for students admitted to the program who decide to serve with City Year before starting with Syracuse University School of Education.
  • Applicants may be considered for additional School of Education scholarships.

To Apply

  • In general, most graduate programs within the School of Education participate is rolling admissions and admit students on a space-available basis. Please contact the academic department overseeing the program of study for further information. To identify and verify your City Year affiliation
  • For the application fee to be waived, you must check the box in the application that states you will send a check in the mail for the application fee. You will NOT send a check but will be put in a specific category which recognizes you as a recipient of the waived application fee.

  • City Year verification: To get the application fee waived and to be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing with "Syracuse SOE" in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your corps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to Admissions Office and added to your applicant file.
