The mission of AmeriCorps VISTA is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteerism and mobilization of resources. AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program that gives you the opportunity to serve with organizations full-time for one year. AmeriCorps VISTA projects are designed to build permanent capacity and infrastructure to help more effectively bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Within AmeriCorps VISTA, there are five anti-poverty focus areas:

In-service benefits include:

• Relocation allowance of $0.40 per mile and a settling-in allowance of $750.00, if moving more than 50 miles for VISTA service
• Bi-weekly living allowance based on county: Travis Co, TX: $1755.32/month
• Access to the AmeriCorps VISTA Healthcare Program
• A childcare allowance, if eligible
• 10 paid vacation and 10 paid sick leave days
