University Partnership: Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars at Boston College Lynch School of Education

City Year is proud to partner with the Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars at Boston College Lynch School of Education, a leading graduate program to prepare aspiring educators for teaching in urban communities,
offering 50% tuition scholarships.

The Carolyn A. and Peter S. Lynch School of Education at Boston College, a Catholic and Jesuit university, endeavors to improve the human condition through education and applied psychology. We pursue this goal through excellence and ethics in teaching, research, and service. We prepare undergraduate and graduate students to serve diverse populations in a variety of professional roles—as teachers, administrators, human service providers, psychologists, and researchers. What unites our diverse work is the underlying aspiration to enhance the human condition, to expand the human imagination, and to make the world more just.

The Charles F. Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars program is an intensive one-year Masters in Education, M.Ed., program leading to teacher licensure, that seeks to prepare K-12 teachers to work effectively with students and families in urban schools throughout the country. Programs of Study include:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Elementary Education
  • Secondary Education (multiple subjects)
  • Reading and Literacy
  • Special Needs Education

The Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars Program builds on specific programs of study with interactive urban education seminars, critical inquiry research, social justice education, and community building that is responsive to the academic and socio-cultural needs of urban youth and their families.
