City Year is proud to partner with Clark University School of Professional Studies. The graduate programs in the School of Professional Studies (SPS) are designed to help students prepare for and take advantage of the changing workplace. We offer innovative graduate courses in topics such as cyber security, social media, leadership and interpersonal neurobiology. City Year is proud to partner with Clark University School of Professional Studies, offering a 50% tuition scholarship.


Clark University School of Professional Studies (SPS) has been providing practical, effective continuing education for 75 years. SPS offers graduate programs that prepare mid-career professionals, international students and others for jobs where employees are in-demand, including:

Eligibility & Additional Info

  • Scholarships awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.
  • Each matriculated City Year member will receive a minimum 50 percent tuition scholarship to one of SPS's graduate programs.
  • The scholarship is for the length of the program contingent upon the recipients maintaining continuous registration and remaining in good academic standing, according to Clark University School of Professional Studies’ standards. 

  • The scholarship described above represent the minimum awards; applicants may be considered for additional merit-based aid based on the academic strength of the application.

Follow these steps to identify your City Year affiliation, access application fee waiver and be considered for the scholarship:

  • Step 1:  Request City Year service verification letter: Please email the City Year Alumni & Career Services Department at with "Clark University School of Professional Studies - City Year verification letter request” in the subject line and include the site where you served and dates of service in the email. This letter will be sent back to you and it should be uploaded to your application.
  • Step 2: Identify your City Year affiliation on application and upload service verification letter: There is a question on the Application Information page that asks “Will you be receiving any outside (non-Clark) sources of assistance, including financial assistance from your employer?” City Year applicants should answer “Yes”. Then a “Please specify” drop down box appears and applicants can identify themselves as “City Year” applicants from the drop down menu.  Once the applicant submits their application, they will be prompted to pay their application fee in the Applicant Status Page. City Year applicants should NOT pay the application fee. Instead, upload your Description of Service under “Upload Materials”.
  • Step 3: Application fee waiver approved: Upon receipt of your application with the service verification letter, the Admissions Office will communicate that your application fee has been waived.
  • Note: Be sure to highlight your City Year service experience as part of your essay.
