Kansas City Teacher Residency

City Year is proud to partner with the Kansas City Teacher Residency so our alumni can continue to make a difference in classrooms and in the lives of students. This partnership reflects the shared visions and values of both organizations, and their belief that young people can keep students on track to graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. City Year strengthens an applicant’s competitiveness and chances for being selected for the Kansas City Teacher Residency.

Kansas City Teacher Residency (KCTR) is an innovative program that prepares aspiring teachers to become effective urban educators through an alternative route to teaching. By providing a mentor teacher, and master’s level coursework, teacher candidates will develop the necessary skills and certification to make a difference in the lives of urban students attending Kansas City’s highest needs public schools.

The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success as a Kansas City Teacher Resident and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a Kansas City Teacher Resident.
