City Year is proud to partner with Prescott College, a leading institution of higher learning focused on educating students of diverse ages and backgrounds to understand, thrive in, and enhance our world community and environment, and physical well-being in multicultural communities. Prescott College now offers a Changemaker Scholarship to support students in their studies across all programs, up to $4,000 for students seeking their master’s degree and up to $8,000 for students seeking their PhD in Sustainability Education. The Changemaker Scholarship initiative guarantees a tuition scholarship to every new accepted student who applies by our priority application deadline that intends to enroll in a degree program for the fall 2019, spring 2020, or summer 2020 semester. Scholarships will be available for those who apply after the priority application deadline on a first-come, first-serve basis*. The Changemaker scholarship will be renewed each year for students who maintain satisfactory academic progress as a full-time student at Prescott College. Learn more.

Eligibility & Additional Info

  •  Changemaker scholarships available by program
    • Online Master of Arts for a student up to $3,000 per year
    • Online Master of Education for a student up to $3,000 per year
    • Online Master of Science in Counseling for a student up to $4,000 per year
    • Online PhD in Sustainability Education for a student up to $8,000 per year
  • Candidates who apply for the fall 2019 term by the priority scholarship deadline (February 1) will qualify for the highest scholarship available. After that date, scholarships may be available at lower levels based upon availability. See the Scholarships page for details. We encourage you to apply early!
  • Scholarships awarded to City Year alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.
  • A one-year deferral for admitted students who decide to serve with City Year for additional time before starting their study with the graduate program in Community.

    • February 1, 2019 for the fall 2019 term
    • November 1, 2019 for the spring 2020 term
    • March 1, 2020 for the summer 2020 term

To Identify Your City Year Affiliation

  • Please contact the Admissions Office (below) to be considered for the scholarship described above. Please state that you served with City Year and reference our partnership.

  • City Year verification: To get the application fee waived and to be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing with "Prescott College" in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and year of graduation. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to Admissions Office and added to your applicant file.
