Michelle Lalonde Stuntz '02 & '03 • Manager, Deloitte Consulting LLP

Michelle Lalonde Stuntz
Working in Deloitte’s federal practice, Michelle lends her experience to help clients operate more effectively and efficiently. She attributes her ability to navigate her diverse client portfolio while maintaining a steadfast commitment to service to her experience as a City Year corps member. "I learned the value of being mission-oriented, working towards a greater purpose,” she says. "This is something that translates to my work every day in Deloitte’s federal practice.”

Michelle served in Columbus, Ohio where she was responsible for assisting the teacher in a second grade classroom, tutoring third, fourth and fifth graders, and running an after-school program in a nearby "Section 8” housing development. Michelle went on to join City Year’s staff and later joined the Peace Corps as an education volunteer in Zambia, Africa. Upon returning to the United States, Michelle pursued her master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration and International Relations, and joined the Human Capital Management Solutions group at BearingPoint, before joining Deloitte in 2009.

When she first transitioned to Deloitte, Michelle learned of the organization’s national commitment to City Year. As a National Leadership Sponsor, Deloitte supports City Year through financial contributions, pro bono work, mentoring corps members, and engaging in volunteer projects with City Year’s staff members. "Finding out that Deloitte was supportive of an organization that was meaningful to me personally helped me get acclimated to Deloitte,” says Michelle. "We have the same goals, and that helped me realize that this is where I want to spend my career.”

Despite her challenging work schedule and frequent travel, Michelle continues her commitment by helping to manage the Deloitte relationship with City Year in Washington, DC. Last year, Michelle led a professional development and resume writing course for local corps members. She urged corps members to recognize and promote the value of their experience, regardless of their professional aspirations. "Every day, corps members are working in teams, handling adversity and demonstrating leadership skills. These are the same skills that are sought in the corporate world, in government, in nonprofit, and in academia,” she says. "These are invaluable assets that corps members can bring to any job.”
