The school serves as one of the nation's key centers for the theory and practice of planning and public policy scholarship and analysis. As part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the school capitalizes on the strength and resources of this major research university. The Bloustein School reaches to the larger world beyond the realm of academia to contribute to the regional, national, and international communities.

Eligibility & Additional Info

  • The awardfor Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy graduate programs will be equal to 25% of tuition for up to 2 City Year corps, alumni or staff members per year. All students must meet the school’s admission criteria. 

  • Scholarships awarded to City Year alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.

  • Application fee reimbursement

  • A one-year deferral for students admitted to a graduate program who decide to serve with City Year before starting their study with The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.

  • Applicants will be considered for additional merit-based awards depending on the strength of the application.

To Access the Fee Waiver and Identify Your City Year Affiliation

  •  Access Fee waiver: all AmeriCorps alums receive an app fee waiver. Within the online application form, there will be a a list of organizations in a drop down. Select AmeriCorps from that list and no payment will be needed.
  •  City Year verification: To be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with "Rutgers School of Planning and Public Policy" in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your corps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent back to the applicant to upload to the online application
  • Upload letter to online application: The verification letter from AmeriCorps needs to be uploaded by the applicant directly as a PDF, as part of the supporting documents for the application.  The student can upload all supporting docs here.
