Career Partnership with UP Education Network |
UP Education Network is a nonprofit school management organization whose mission is to rapidly transform chronically underperforming district schools into extraordinary schools that sustain high achievement over time. Our turnaround schools ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character necessary to succeed on the path to college and to achieve their full potential. Across our network, we serve more than 3,000 students in Boston, Springfield and Lawrence. The City Year experience is a strong indicator of future success at UP Education Network and serving a year with City Year strengthens an applicant’s application and chances for being selected as a UP Teaching Fellow.
The UP Teaching Fellowship allows aspiring educators to develop into effective new teachers through a unique teacher training and residency model between UP Education Network and our graduate school partners. UP Teaching Fellows are hired by one of our UP Academies as a Cluster Substitute Teachers (building-wide substitutes) and have structured time built into their days to receive coaching and development from school leaders, the UP Education Network, and their graduate school. Boston Fellows enroll in the Sposato Graduate School of Education while Lawrence Fellows enroll in UMass Boston’s Teach Next Year program. Following the fellowship, Fellows may apply for a full-time teacher position at UP. Benefits offered by working at UP Education Network
Please note that all admissions decisions are made by UP Education Network. Corps members and alumni interested in the residency program must complete the full application process. Please also note that UP Education Network is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against employees or qualified job applicants on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or any other status or condition protected by applicable law. This policy extends to, but is not limited to, recruitment, selection, compensation, benefits, promotion, training and termination.
