Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University is a top ranked Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) and Master of Public Policy (MPP) program committed to rebirth of the public-service ethic in the United States. The school serves as one of the nation's key centers for the theory and practice of planning and public policy scholarship and analysis. As part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the school capitalizes on the strength and resources of this major research university. The Bloustein School reaches to the larger world beyond the realm of academia to contribute to the regional, national, and international communities.

Eligibility & Additional Info

  • The awardfor Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy graduate programs will be equal to 25% of tuition for up to 2 City Year corps, alumni or staff members per year. All students must meet the school’s admission criteria. 

  • Scholarships awarded to City Year alumni for at least one year of service and City Year staff members employed for at least two years.

  • Application fee reimbursement

  • A one-year deferral for students admitted to a graduate program who decide to serve with City Year before starting their study with The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.

  • Applicants will be considered for additional merit-based awards depending on the strength of the application.

To Identify Your City Year Affiliation

  • City Year applicants seeking to be considered for the give a year scholarship are required to submit a letter verifying their City Year affiliation. Please send an email to Amanda Smidt, City Year's National Manager of Alumni & Career Services, at giveayear@cityyear.org with "The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line and include the site where you served and dates of service in the email. This letter will be sent to The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy Admissions Office and added to applicant file
