Columbia College offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff
40% scholarships
The City Year Scholarship is valued at 40% of tuition annually for up to three qualified City Year AmeriCorps members towards full-time study in an undergraduate degree program.
Scholarships are renewable for the duration of the program for either transfer or first-time freshman students. Students must meet scholarship renewal criteria, including maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better and continued full-time enrollment.
Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.
Partnership benefits will be available to those accepted for Fall 2024 and beyond.
Additional benefits
- There is no application fee for prospective students who submit the online application.
- Enrollment deferral: A one-year deferral is available for accepted students who decide to serve additional time with City Year before starting their studies.

Please contact the admissions office to identify yourself as a City Year applicant and reference our partnership.
To apply for the scholarship
To be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “Columbia College: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to the admissions office and added to your applicant file.
