School for International Training Graduate Institute

City Year is proud to partner with the School for International Training’s Graduate Institute, a leading graduate school focused on preparing students to be interculturally effective leaders, professionals and citizens, offering $7,500 and $10,000 scholarships.

The School for International Training’s Graduate Institute offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

$7,500-$10,000 scholarships

A scholarship of at least $7,500 for part-time hybrid programs and $10,000 for global master’s programs will be awarded to all City Year applicants who pursue a master’s degree at the School for International Training’s Graduate Institute.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

Applicants will be considered for additional merit-based awards depending on the strength of their application.

  • Application fee waiver
  • Enrollment deferral: Admitted students will be permitted to defer enrollment by one year if they decide to serve additional time with City Year before starting their studies.
  • City Year staff members are also eligible for a $10,000 partnership scholarship, including virtual and part-time options.

Please check the “City Year” box on the Graduate Institute’s online application. Otherwise, contact the admissions office and state that you served with City Year and reference our partnership.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship

To get the application fee waiver, prior to submitting their application, the applicant should email admissions@sit.edu to identify themselves as affiliated with City Year and to request the application waiver.

To be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “SIT Graduate Institute” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to the admissions office and added to your applicant file.
