Simmons University Graduate Health Sciences

City Year is proud to partner with Simmons University's Graduate Health Science programs offered in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences, offering 25% tuition scholarships.

Simmons University’s Graduate Health Sciences offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

25% scholarships

The Simmons University City Year Partnership award will be equal to at least 25% total tuition, based upon tuition at time of admission, for applicants applying to the suite of graduate health science programs within the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences. Both part-time (five or more credits) and full-time students (10 or more credits) are eligible to be considered for the Simmons/City Year scholarship. Up to 25 City Year scholarships will be awarded across eligible Simmons graduate programs each year. Please note that City Year applicants may also be considered for additional merit awards, but are unable to combine the Simmons City Year Scholarship with other partner, professional or alumnae scholarships or discounts. Following admission, a scholarship letter will detail the total awarded amount and related terms.

The scholarship is awarded to a City Year AmeriCorps member or alum who has completed at least one term of service or a City Year staff member employed for at least one year before enrolling at Simmons.

Program Eligibility

Awards are canceled if a student withdraws, takes a leave of absence or is academically dismissed from the program.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

Additional benefits

  • Application fee waivers will only be guaranteed for applicants to the Master of Science in Nutrition, Didactic Program in Dietetics, or the M.S. in Behavior Analysis (on-campus).
  • Application fee waivers are limited for the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Direct Entry MSN (FNP) Nursing programs. Please email snhs@simmons.edu to inquire about a fee waiver before you submit your application to the Common Application Service (CAS).
  • Enrollment deferral: accepted students may defer their enrollment for one academic year, but the scholarship does not automatically carry forward to the future term of enrollment. Students will be re-considered. The new award amount may be different from the original award depending upon the competitiveness of the new applicant pool.

Why City Year loves Simmons University’s College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences

The College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences is home to one of the country’s first university-based nursing programs. Our new science building (opened Fall 2022) includes an 11,000 square foot, 30 bed simulation center to include 16 skills lab beds, 8 health assessment beds, 5 high fidelity suites, and one home health apartment. In addition, we have state-of-the-art science and Nutrition labs as well as Physical Therapy lab, research and teaching spaces.

The School of Nursing is proud to remain among the best in the field for educating future nurses, recognized for clinical excellence and preparing future leaders in health care through undergraduate, graduate and online nursing degree programs. Simmons University’s School of Nursing educates nurses to provide compassionate and evidence-based care, advocate for patients and communities, lead interprofessional teams and advance research.

In our Physical Therapy program, students are prepared for a wide range of professional paths, from sports medicine and chronic pain, to emergent areas like regenerative medicine. We train physical therapists to be effective members of interprofessional health care teams and to serve diverse patient populations and communities.

The Graduate Nutrition programs at Simmons are patient-centered, evidence-based, and clinically rigorous. The programs offer small, interactive classes which help facilitate strong student/faculty and peer-to-peer connections. Students learn through simulation and bench-lab training, and Simmons is making major investments in our campus to provide students with optimized spaces for interdisciplinary teaching, research, and collaborative learning in the sciences.

Our on-campus M.S. in Behavior Analysis program was the first accredited master’s program in New England; the program is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International.

Our programs are designed for working professionals, with evening classes and options for on-campus or online study. We offer rigorous BCBA® exam preparation. In 2020, first-time takers in our on-campus program had an 83% pass rate, 17% over the national average.

Situated in the heart of Boston, the Simmons campus is surrounded by world-renowned teaching hospitals and research facilities—like Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital Boston and Massachusetts General Hospital. Simmons students are sought after for clinical rotations, research and employment opportunities with leading experts in the industry.

With over 850 clinical partnerships across all of our programs, and licensure exam pass rates above the national average, Simmons is a great place to earn your graduate health sciences degree!
