We are City Year. We are challenging the educational status quo with tenacity, passion and empathy. We create environments where young people feel like they belong, so they can fulfill their potential.
Denver is a hub of outdoor living with some of country’s best skiing and snow-boarding mountains, national parks, mountain biking trails and rock climbing.
There are 75 highly-skilled AmeriCorps members working with over 6,000 students throughout Denver.
We partner with educators while supporting, mentoring and lifting up our students so that they are able to fully take advantage of their drive and skillsets.

City Year Denver is heartbroken to share news of the passing of our alum, Laura Van Horn. Laura began her calling to education as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year Dallas where she specialized in middle school math. After her service year, she joined City Year Denver as a founding member of our Teaching Fellowship program, where she continued her passion for teaching middle school math at Compass Academy. After finishing her fellowship, Laura continued her career in education as a teacher in Aurora Public Schools.
Beyond education, Laura was also an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation where most recently she served as a chairperson for the youth ambassador program. Our condolences go to Laura’s family, friends, and all her knew her, as well as the communities she impacted as an educator.

All of our AmeriCorps participating in Learning and Development days to further their professional knowledge. As they near the end of their service year, they are focusing on what life looks like after City Year. To help in that discussion, we had professionals from Salesforce, Starbucks, and PwC participate on a panel to share what life looked like for them as they transitioned into the workforce!

City Year Denver’s Rock the Red Jacket event on May 3rd was a night to honor our students, partner schools, AmeriCorps members and generous supporters!
