Job Summary

The Front Desk Receptionist is friendly, organized and a consummate multi-taker.  The ability to communicate and build relationships with young adults, ages 17-25, is a must, as the Receptionist is the first person whom young adults see.  The Receptionist performs routine clerical work, answers phones and receives the public.  The Receptionist reports to the Executive Assistant, who assigns several projects and tasks to the Receptionist as needed.


  • Greet young adults and visitors and direct individuals to appropriate UTEC staff
  • Answer and direct telephone calls accordingly
  • Operate computer, copy machine, fax machine, laminator and scan documents
  • Maintain all office forms
  • Clean and maintain mailboxes
  • Receive and notify staff of deliveries
  • Care for all plants in the building
  • Make UTEC info packets, having 40 prepared at all times
  • Keep the Staffuary clean – sink, microwave, refrigerator.  Keep Coffee Station clean and stocked
  • Staples order – coffee station and office supplies
  • Friendly:  Warmly welcomes all people to UTEC and can director visitors and young adults in a warm manner
  • Organized:  Follows through on all tasks and upholds systems and protocols
  • Closes building 35 Warren and locks doors / Lock 17 Warren & 2Gen Center front doors
  • Initiative:  Finishes daily tasks and creates new tasks during downtime without being asked
  • Coachable:  Open to feedback and personal and professional development
  • Comfortable with New Technology:  Learns new software quickly and uses it appropriately

Education and Experience

  • At least 2 years of office work experience, preferably in a fast-pace environment
  • High school diploma required
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 15 pounds at one time

Salary/Benefits: $20 per hour, full time, plus benefits. UTEC offers a competitive benefits package that starts with 4 weeks of vacation (3 standard for all new employees and a week of agency-wide closure between the Christmas and New Year holidays), 12 holidays, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, an annual cost of living increase, a 457B retirement plan and up to $4,000 per employee of professional development support.  With time, benefits grow to include up to 6 weeks of vacation, 80% coverage of employee health and dental insurance costs and availability for a 3 week sabbatical.
