Why Seattle?

Seattle has a lot of qualities that make it a great place to live, yet systemic racism makes the education system unequitable for many of our students. We have the fifth largest opportunity gap between white and black students, and by choosing to serve at City Year Seattle, you are making the choice to fight for education equity for all students. As a bonus, you can live in a city surrounded by rivers, lakes, Puget Sound, and mountain ranges, making it a prime outdoor recreation destination. The focus on race and equity as a site, along with the its gorgeous landscapes make Seattle/King County an ideal place to serve.
